Interesting fact

I grew up watching crocodiles and hippos swim past my house and checking my bed each night in case a snake or scorpion wanted to keep me company.


Nicky was fortunate to have attended Silwood School of Cookery in Cape Town, which gave her the platform to start her catering career at Singita Private Game Reserve, South Africa. Leaving her homeland for the UK she followed her passion for quality and continued her career at Marco Pierre White’s The Yew Tree, Auberge du Lac in Hertfordshire under Phil Thompson and most recently The Bell at Ramsbury in Wiltshire. After a superb career working in professional kitchens since 2005 Nicky then joined Platinum’s Elite Chef Division in 2013.


Originally from South Africa, I’ve never lost my love for the country and spending time outdoors. I’ve was very fortunate to have grown up in the most beautiful of countries including 5 years in Zimbabwe. Waking up and seeing wildlife from my bedroom window was a normal everyday occurrence.

Having watched my parent’s work very long hours managing luxury 5 Star Lodges, instilled a strong work ethic that helped me in my chef career and now recruitment. I still love to cook, but now only do so for pleasure.  My spare time is either spent visiting family and my beautiful young nephew or enjoying time at home entertaining friends.

Why Platinum

Platinum placed me at an amazing Michelin star kitchen in Hertfordshire and from that day were always there to chat with and help guide my career. When the timing was right and after a long conversation about wanting to come out of high pressured kitchens they asked the question ‘Why not come work with us at Platinum? The rest is history! Seaside office, incredible bosses, legendary Christmas and summer parties, unique staff socials, training and development, how could I refuse?
