Meet Sophie Uglow, Talent Acquisition Specialist within Platinum Recruitment’s Hampshire Front of House team.
With a background in HR and onboarding, a First-Class degree in Business Management and Human Resources, and CIPD Level 5, Sophie brings strong people skills to hospitality recruitment.
Sophie is left-handed and was born on International Left-Handers Day, which feels pretty fitting.
She is also into a little bit of witchy stuff, so apparently the signs were there from the start.
Sophie studied Business Management and HR at Buckinghamshire New University and graduated with First Class Honours in 2019.
After moving to Southampton, she built her career in HR and onboarding across education, care and childcare. In October 2025, she completed her CIPD Level 5 qualification before bringing that experience into recruitment.
Today, Sophie works in Talent Acquisition within Platinum Recruitment’s Hampshire Front of House team, using her HR background to support candidates and help connect them with the right hospitality opportunities.
Outside work, Sophie loves heading back to Northamptonshire to spend time with family.
She is also a big fan of reading, video games and crochet, but one of her more unusual interests is falconry. Sophie grew up around birds of prey thanks to her stepfather, who works as a falconer, and has always enjoyed flying and training them.
