Your new role

As Sous Chef, you’ll take responsibility for sections, support the senior kitchen team and help maintain excellent standards throughout service. Working in Burgess Hill, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, develop seasonal dishes and help the restaurant deliver consistently high-quality food across regular service, private functions and events.

You will:

• Prepare, cook and present fresh food to a consistently high standard
• Take responsibility for the daily running of your section
• Support the safe, organised and efficient running of the kitchen
• Help train and develop junior members of the brigade
• Contribute to seasonal menus and daily specials
• Assist with ordering, stock usage and menu planning
• Maintain excellent food hygiene and health and safety standards
• Work closely with the wider team during busy services and events

What we’re looking for

The successful Sous Chef will have solid experience within a quality restaurant, gastropub or similar fresh-food environment.

You’ll also need:

• Confidence running a section during a busy service
• Experience working with fresh, seasonal ingredients
• Creativity and an interest in menu development
• A good understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene
• Strong organisation and attention to detail
• A reliable, consistent and team-focused approach
• Your own transport, ideally, due to the location
