We’re looking for a Coffee Shop Assistant Manager to join a well-established and welcoming hospitality business in Christchurch. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced supervisor or team leader who enjoys being hands-on, developing a team and creating a great experience for customers.

Working alongside the Coffee Shop Manager, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day running of a busy coffee shop, helping to lead the team, maintain high standards and ensure customers receive warm, friendly service every time. Key Responsibilities:

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll help keep the coffee shop running smoothly while supporting and developing the team.

• Support the Coffee Shop Manager with the daily running of the coffee shop

• Lead by example, motivating the team to deliver friendly and consistent customer service

• Take responsibility for the operation when the Manager is away

• Support with rotas, staffing levels and day-to-day team organisation

• Coach and develop team members, helping them build confidence and product knowledge

• Assist with recruitment, inductions and training

• Maintain high standards across food, drink, cleanliness and presentation

• Support with stock control, ordering and reducing waste

• Handle customer queries and resolve any issues professionally

• Assist with cash handling and end-of-day procedures

• Ensure food safety, health & safety and company standards are consistently followed

• Provide hands-on support during busy services and lead the team from the front

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people and is ready to take the next step in their hospitality career.

• Previous experience within a café, coffee shop, hospitality or similar customer-focused environment

• At least one year’s experience in a supervisory, team leader or senior position

• A genuine passion for great customer service

• Confident leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• A positive, proactive and hands-on approach

• Comfortable working in a busy environment and remaining calm under pressure

• Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety

• Experience with tills, cash handling and basic computer systems

• Flexibility to work weekends and during busier seasonal periods
