• Weekly tips and bonuses, averaging approximately £6,000 per year
• 2.5 days off and three evenings off each week
• A 4.5-day working week across seven days
• Approximately 45-50 hours per week, mixing straight and split shifts
• Sensible finishing times, normally around 9.15pm on weekdays
• An experienced and supportive kitchen brigade in Burgess Hill
• Hands-on development in menus, stock control, gross profit and kitchen management

Your new role

As Junior Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with the senior kitchen team to deliver consistently high standards in Burgess Hill. You’ll run sections, support service and help the restaurant produce quality modern British dishes, seasonal specials and food for private events.

You will:

• Prepare, cook and present high-quality fresh food
• Run kitchen sections and maintain standards during service
• Help create seasonal menus and daily specials
• Support the planning and delivery of functions and events
• Assist with ordering, stock control, cost control and gross profit
• Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and kitchen organisation
• Work closely with the front-of-house team
• Mentor junior team members as your responsibilities develop

What we’re looking for

The successful Junior Sous Chef will have solid experience within a quality restaurant or gastropub and be ready to develop their leadership and commercial skills.

You’ll also need:

• Experience working with fresh, seasonal produce
• Confidence running a section during busy services
• Creativity and an interest in menu development
• Strong organisation and attention to detail
• A reliable, flexible and team-focused approach
• Your own transport
• To be UK-based with the existing right to work in the UK
